This piece is inspired by one of the colorful facades in San Miguel that stopped me in my tracks and never quite let go. I had been obsessed with it for some time before beginning this interpretation for special clients. The weathered wall, the richly layered layered patina, and the ever-changing collection of vintage and antique objects hanging across the facade give it a sense of history, mystery, and theatricl charm. Because the display shifts almost daily, no two encounters with it are ever quite the same. In this door, I wanted to capture not only the architecture itself, but the spirit of discovery that makes it unforgettable.
