Door II • San Miguel de Allende
There are doors you pass—and doors that stop you in your tracks.
This was one of those.
Tucked into a timeworn facade, this door carries centuries of history in every crack, every stone, every layer of worn plaster. The faded turquoise door with a burst of color from the ribbons hanging from the lintel, feels unexpectedly alive.
Recreating it was meticulous. Each stone was individually hand-carved, the plaster built up and broken back down, and layers of paint applied and aged until the surface carried the same sense of time as the original.
